Carrick Yamaha - Motorcycle Training

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

Compulsory Basic Training was introduced by the Government in December 1990 as a measure to prevent young riders from buying a motorcycle and then taking it on the public roads without any form of training or experience. As from 1st January 1997, ANYONE who wants to ride a motorcycle on the public road has to first undertake Compulsory Basic Training. This means that, even though a Full Car Licence has the Provisional Cat A, everyone has to complete Compulsory Basic Training before they can legally ride on the public roads.

Carrick Yamaha does not operate a training scheme. However, we are pleased to recommend the City School of Motorcycling, contact details below.
